Medical Directors of Dortmund Fertility Centre
“Itʼs finally happened! That faint but all-important line on the pregnancy test is there for all to see. We couldnʼt be happier and wake up every morning with beaming smiles! Thanks so much for taking such good care of us in your practice and for your help in giving us this wonderful feeling of soon-to-be parents!” (Birgit und Jochen G.)
When a longed-for pregnancy does not arrive, it can become a huge emotional ordeal for a couple. In Germany, couples are able to find proven specialist help that uses the latest medical advancements. Fertility treatment in Germany sets an example for others to follow with its high quality standards and documentation of success rates. “In recent years, intensive medical research has brought forth new, state-of-the-art treatment methods which enable us to help even those childless couples for whom there was previously little hope,” explains Professor Stefan Dieterle, founder of the Dortmund Fertility Centre in North Rhine- Westphalia.
High success rate
Professor Dieterle is one of three Medical Directors of the North Rhine-Westphalia Fertility Centre, which in addition to Dortmund has sites in Dorsten and Siegen. Together with his partners at the practice, Professor Robert R. Greb and Dr Andreas M. Neuer, the founder of the centre is delighted with the current success rate: “Today, 60 to 80 per cent of all couples who are unable to conceive become parents with our help. This means that since the practice was founded in the late 1990s, our fertility centre has made 7,000 pregnancies possible.”
Top medical care – transparent documentation
As an accredited centre for reproductive medicine in Germany, Dortmund Fertility Centre submits itself to strict external quality control measures. Germany was one of the first EU countries to voluntarily set up a register in which all IVF/ICSI artificial fertilisation treatments are precisely documented from the outset. The results are published annually and monitored by the German medical councils.
State-of-the-art reproductive medicine
“Our centre specialises in helping couples who are having difficulties conceiving. Sterility consultations are a key part of what we do,” says Dr Neuer. All the latest diagnostic tests and fertility treatments (IVF, ICSI, TESE etc.) are offered at the Fertility Centre. “Although this does not guarantee a pregnancy,” continues Neuer, “it enables us to give Mother Nature a helping hand so that it is easier to become pregnant.” This does not always mean that artificial fertilisation is required. The assistance of medication and the precise determination of ovulation are often all it takes.
Comprehensive medical expertise with the focus on the person
Dortmund Fertility Centre is involved in the specialist training and development of medical students and practising gynaecologists. The centre has close links with research and teaching at the universities of Münster and Witten/Herdecke in North Rhine-Westphalia. It offers state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and medical technology in a pleasant environment and calls on the services of highly qualified employees in all departments. It is especially important in a fertility centre that the staff have the skills to deal with the person and not just the problem. Professor Greb offers couples trying to conceive the assurance of both: “With our team of doctors, biologists, psychologists, lab technicians and assistants, you are in the best hands when it comes to fertility. We will do everything in our power to help you!”
