Ruppiner Land Circular Trail: a landscape of waterways and palaces to the north of Berlin

    The Ruppiner Land Circular Trail is characterised both by water and by cultural places of interest, including the Oder-Havel canal, the lakes around Neuruppin – birthplace of novelist Theodor Fontane, Liebenberg Palace and Rheinsberg Palace – which featured in the works of the writer Kurt Tucholsky.

    The Frederician rococo style first emerged when the plain Renaissance complex was renovated and extended to create a residence for Friedrich, Crown Prince of Prussia (1712-1786). Today, visitors can look round the palace museum and the Kurt Tucholsky museum.
