'Königstein Fortress – a winter fairytale' is the theme for this enchanting Christmas market. This medieval seasonal extravaganza with jesters and travelling entertainers is illuminated by 1.3 kilometres of fairy lights and is hosted by Königstein's very own Father Christmas as well as Friedrich von Kyaw, the fortress commander. Children will love the elves' workshop in the casemate courtyard and the Nativity scene with real farmyard animals. A Christmas pyramid from the Erzgebirge mountains and 250 decorated fir trees add to the magical atmosphere at the fortress. The advent calendar adorning Germany's oldest surviving barracks is the longest in the country at 112 metres.
