The Striezelmarkt in Dresden is one of Germany's oldest and largest Christmas markets. It takes its name from the striezel, Dresden's speciality stollen cake. Highlights include the world's tallest Christmas pyramid (14 metres) and the Stollenfest, when an enormous version of the cake makes its way from Zwinger Palace to the Christmas market, where it is ceremoniously cut and handed out. Dresden also hosts an amazing Christmas extravaganza with heated marquees covering an area of 15,000 square metres. This is like exploring a giant storybook of the imagination, with themed worlds, 150 shows and performances daily, food and drink and shopping.
