Neurology and neurosurgery

As a specialist medical field, neurosurgery in Germany has benefited more than most from advances in microsurgical and minimally invasive techniques, state-of-the-art imaging and computer and navigation technologies. Germany's hospitals have access to the latest medical equipment, which has made it possible to perform operations even in critical functional areas of the brain, such as the centres for motor control.

The Centre for Base of Skull and Spinal Surgery at the Vivantes Hospital in Friedrichshain, Berlin, which is headed up by Professor Dag Moskopp, offers a broad range of neurosurgical diagnostics and therapies. Neurosurgery is a relatively new discipline that involves close collaboration with other fields of medicine as many physical disorders are also manifested in the central nervous system.
