Set amidst the scenic countryside of the Sauerland, FORT FUN adventure park near Bestwig is a hugely popular place for a family day out. Its many spectacular attractions include the longest summer toboggan run in Europe, a hang-gliding adventure and wildwater rafting.
The Wild West in the west of Germany? If you don't believe it, pay a visit to FORT FUN adventure park and see for yourself! The 75-hectare site is packed with around 40 rides and attractions, some nostalgic, some futuristic, as well as a whole host of Wild West experiences and exciting shows. Experience the thrill of rock climbing at the new Gipfelstürmer climbing wall, located at the highest point in the park. A real cowboy feels as much at home in the saddle as anywhere – and at FORT FUN you can take in the scenery on a horse or pony ride just like in the Wild West. If you prefer the thrill of a rollercoaster to a leisurely tack over hill and dale, the Speed Snake and Devil's Mine are just for you. A must for thrill-seekers is the Wild Eagle sky glider, which flies 700 metres down the mountainside at more than 80 km/h. Those with a head for heights will also enjoy the Big Wheel and the Capt'n Crazy ship swing. You can also take a ride on the 480-metre-long Wild River or go whitewater rafting on the Rio Grande – but prepare to get wet! And there are lots of snack points to stop at once you've worked up an appetite.
One of the park's highlights is the Trapper SLIDER: at 1.3km it is Europe's longest toboggan run and guarantees steep downhill rides with loops, jumps and plenty of waves. Another is the WILD EAGLE, a state-of-the-art alpine coaster that launches you down the mountain at more than 80 km/h. The huge Mexico themed land is home to the spectacular 480-metre-long Rio Grande rapids ride, where torrents of water cut through the remarkably realistic canyon scenery. Experience an exhilarating voyage in your circular boat, past waterfalls, wave troughs and a swirling vortex. Prepare to be dazzled by a sensational mix of acrobatics and stunts at shows such as TATONKA and Duel in Santa Fe. The park's Halloween event, FORT FEAR Horrorland, offers plenty of tricks and treats on four days in October/November. Extend your adventure and stay overnight at FORT FUN's rustic Davy Crockett Camp and sleep like they did in the Wild West! The camp has 25 Canadian log cabins and offers direct access to the park.
