Heider Marktfrieden is a unique festival that takes place every two years in the town of Heide in Dithmarschen. It recreates the hustle and bustle of market life on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein in the Middle Ages with market stalls, time-honoured crafts and a rustic cattle market. Other highlights of the festival, held this year from 12 to 15 July, include a traditional country wedding, a festival procession and lots of historical plays – a great event for all the family!
