The Hohenzollern Route runs for around 300 kilometres, starting at the top of the River Neckar and ending near Lake Constance and the key palaces and sites in the eventful history of the dynasty in Baden and Württemberg.

Magnificent forest landscapes, stunning, wildly romantic river valleys, palaces, castles, abbeys and countless museums await visitors along this route through the former land of the Hohenzollern. The Zollernalb region is home to ten mountains over 1,000 metres in height and the splendid Hohenzollern Castle is the area's most prominent landmark. The House of Hohenzollern gave rise to princes, kings and emperors. The grand building is a masterpiece of 19th-century Neo-Gothic castle architecture, offering up the finest of views guaranteed to amaze and inspire.

The fortifications, the castle museum complete with treasure chamber, no end of rarities and an open secret passage make a visit to the castle an experience not to be missed. The castle, one of the most beautiful and most frequently visited in the whole of Europe, still belongs to the noble houses of Prussia and Hohenzollern. Visitors can get a taste of the noble lifestyle too by sampling the delicious Swabian specialities in the local area.
