The cuckoo clock is one of the best known examples of German craftsmanship and its origin lies in the heart of the Black Forest Highlands. The Drubba company offers a wide variety of cuckoo clocks “Made in Germany” at its two branches in Titisee and at Hofgut Sternen – The Black Forest Village in Breitnau.
Cuckoo clocks come originally from Germany. The first Black Forest clock was made in the year 1640, not far away from the town of Titisee. Over the years clockmakers from the Black Forest refined and developed these clocks until they had the high-quality Black Forest cuckoo clock which we know today. All clocks are produced locally at our factory in Titisee-Neustadt, which sets them apart from run-of-the-mill cuckoo clocks. All this and more can be learned in demonstrations given by our trained staff at both branches.
Clock demonstrations
We will explain the different steps in the making of cuckoo clocks and also explain about the history of clock-making in the Black Forest. Starting with the cutting of the raw material, wood; going on to intricate woodcarvings - still done by hand at home by the woodcarvers and then further to the technical details, i.e. modern brass movements and precision music boxes. You will also find out where the world-famous cuckoo call comes from - aided by 2 bellows and 2 pipes! Demonstrations are offered to groups on request.
Diverse shopping possibilities
Besides cuckoo clocks the Drubba company offers grandfather clocks, exclusive wristwatches, Swarovski silver crystal and other jewellery, beer steins, fashion goods as well as a big selection of souvenirs and gifts. Next to both branches another local craft can be witnessed at the two glassblower’s workshops. There, an extensive selection of everyday glass articles, animal figures, vases and decorative pieces is to be found.
Customer service at a higher level
In addition to Tax-Free shopping we also offer a 2 year international guarantee on all mechanical clocks and cooperate with 21 service partners all over the world, two of which are in India (Mumbai & Bangalore). Our world-wide shipping service makes travelling even more relaxing as our customers do not have to carry their purchased goods if they do not want to.
