The tools of their trade are scrap metal and everyday objects that make good drums. A show by Einstürzende Neubauten combines apocalyptic sounds with lots of exciting stage action.
There was only supposed to be one performance, in 1980 in West Berlin, for which singer Blixa Bargeld (real name: Christian Emmerich) put together an experimental ensemble inspired by the punk and industrial scene of the time. During the 1980s N.U. Unruh and FM Einheit, the band's two amazing percussionists, rose to legendary status. The visionary, post-industrial sound of Einstürzende Neubauten made an important contribution to avant-garde theatre, film and art.
