Liebieg House Frankfurt am Main

Set in an idyllic spot in a little park on the banks of the River Main, the Liebieg House in Frankfurt is home to an exceptional collection of sculptures. The museum provides an overview of the art of sculpture spanning 5,000 years.

The Liebieg House covers the entire period from Ancient Egypt through to Classicism, bringing together works from the Ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman civilisations and sculptures from the Middle Ages in one collection. With more than 3,000 exhibits, the formerly private Liebieg Villa is regarded as one of the world's leading sculpture museums.

The antiquity collection encompasses sculptures from Ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, providing a fascinating look at the changing face of Mediterranean culture over three and a half millennia. The collection of medieval artefacts features works of art from more than six centuries, with exquisite sculptures showing off the predominantly Christian art to emerge between the 9th and 16th centuries. And the collection of more modern sculptures dating back to the 15th to 19th centuries is equally impressive. Here, visitors can look forward to exhibits from the beginnings of the Renaissance era as well as the Mannerism, Baroque and Rococo periods all the way to Classicism. Opening times: Tuesday and Friday to Sunday: 10 am–6 pm, Wednesday and Thursday: 10 am–9 pm
