The exhibition 'Halle – on Life and Decline in the GDR' at the city's saltworks and salt-panning museum (Halloren- und Salinemuseum) features over 80 photographs by Werner Schönfeld that primarily document the decline of the city centre in the 1980s. The exhibition, which opened on 3 October 2012, will now remain on display until 16 December 2012 due to huge public interest.
