Cologne Cathedral
The Cologne Cathedral
The Cologne cathedral is a cathedral of the superlative, a symbol and central attraction of the Rhine metropolis. Its size is emphasised by the gigantic pair of towers, which have dominated the panorama of the cathedral city since their completion in 1880. The catehdral is still today the second highest building in Cologne after the telecommunications tower. The area is no less impressive: The full length of the cathedral is 145 m., the cross nave is 86 m.wide. In comparison: a football pitch is "only" around 100 times 70 m. There is room for more than 20,000 people on the area of the cathedral, which encompasses almost 8,000 square metres.
                                                                                                                              Ascent of the Tower
Climb the south tower of the Cathedral to its 97 m high viewing platform and enjoy a magnificent view of the City.

Treasury
The treasures of Cologne Cathedral are displayed in the 13th century vaults - priceless reliquaries, liturgical objects and vestments, insignia of the archbishops and priests, medieval sculptures and Frankish grave finds.
