Munich Airport – "Europe's first five star airport!"

In spring 2015, Bavaria's gateway to the world became Europe's first airport to be granted five-star status. This coveted title, considered the "Oscar" of the aviation world, is awarded by Skytrax, a highly respected London-based aviation research institute. Munich Airport now belongs to the five star league - next to the Asian airports Singapur, Seoul, Hong Kong and Tokio-Haneda.

Moreover Munich Airport was voted Europe's best airport at the 2015 World Airport Awards and achieved an outstanding third position in the global rankings. By taking home this prize yet again, the Bavarian hub has now won the "European airport championship " in eight of the past 10 years.

General information
With a throughput of around 40 million passengers every year Munich Airport is the second-busiest airport in Germany. Passengers arrive here from 228 destinations in approximately 66 countries. More than 150 stores and retail outlets make the airport a shopping paradise. Passengers can shop for brands such as Salvatore Ferragamo, Hugo Boss, Emporio Armani, Gucci and Hermès.The airport also excels when it comes to food and drinks, and boasts the world’s first and only airport brewery – Airbräu. In addition, a wide range of events take place at the airport all-season – from surfing championships in summer to the airport Christmas market in winter.

Service nonstop
“Service nonstop” is the impassioned goal of Munich Airport. With a clear signage and user-friendly layout, passengers find their way quickly and easily around Munich Airport. Special transit screens at the arrival gates display connections relevant to the arriving passengers. For literally nonstop service, general service centers in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are open 24-hours to serve the passengers with almost anything they require – such as luggage storage, dry cleaning, travel health insurance, lost and found, fax service or ticket sales for public transportation.
