Boney M. – disco sound from Germany

In the mid-1970s disco developed its own musical style. One of its most internationally famous bands was Boney M., who stormed into the global charts with songs like Daddy Cool and Rivers of Babylon.

It all began in 1974 when producer and musician Frank Farian recorded a new single in his Offenbach studio. When it was released he used the pseudonym Boney M. as the name of the act. The song sold so well that Farian decided to produce a live version, for which he chose three women and a man, all from the Caribbean, and set them up as the band Boney M., complete with sexy fantasy costumes. Thanks to Boney M., Farian's songs became number one hits in several European countries. Around 50 singles have been recorded by Boney M. to date.
