Painters’ Way –In the footsteps of the Romantics through Saxon Switzerland

Painters’ Way in the Elbe Sandstone Massif is one of Germany’s loveliest trails. Where painters once sought inspiration for their masterpieces, today you can walk across table-top mountains and through narrow gorges.

Tip: Bastei rocks

Saxon Switzerland’s most famous landmark, the Bastei rocks provide a fantastic view over the Elbe valley, the table-top mountains and the bizarre rock formations of the Elbe Sandstone Massif. With spectacular scenery of rocks, crags and cliffs, the Saxon Switzerland National Park is hugely popular with walkers.
