Lokschuppen Exhibition Centre Rosenheim

With its changing interactive exhibitions combining extensive research with elaborate design, the Lokschuppen Exhibition Centre is ranked amongst the top ten in the whole of Germany.

Rosenheim's cultural heart is semicircular: an old locomotive remise that has been converted into an award-winning exhibition centre and presents natural-historical, archaeological or cultural-historical experience exhibitions for families, experts and school classes.

Under the title "Volcanoes", the new special exhibition invites visitors on a fascinating adventure journey into the world of fire-breathing giants. It is estimated that there are about 600 active volcanoes on Earth, with around 50 - 70 eruptions registered every year. But how and why are these imposing fire-breathers formed? What benefits, but also what dangers, are associated with these powerful eruptions? The three-month-long eruption of Cumbre Vieja on La Palma in 2021 is unforgettable. In the past 400 years, around 300,000 people worldwide have lost their lives as a result of volcanic eruptions. But how can people protect themselves from the unpredictable fire-breathers? The exhibition provides information on the latest research findings in a vivid way. In addition, themed guided tours and workshops are offered for all age groups.
