The Tauber Altmühl Valley Cycle Route runs between Wertheim and Kelheim, linking four stunning river regions surrounding the Main, Tauber, Altmühl and Danube. It never fails to astound cyclists with its splendid natural landscapes and little historical towns.

Starting off in Wertheim, the route covers almost 350 kilometres with barely any climbs. From here, the journey continues through the Charming Tauber Valley all the way to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Bronnbach Abbey and Bad Mergentheim are on the way and the Medieval town centre of Rothenburg ob der Tauber is well worth a visit. Next, the route proceeds through the Romantic Franconia region and the Franconian Heights Nature Park, before meandering through the Altmühl Valley and passing the Roman Limes UNESCO World Heritage Site and Pappenheim Castle. The cathedral town of Eichstätt is the next port of call, before the route carries on alongside the Main-Danube Canal to Kelheim, where it joins the River Danube.
