Berlin achieved record-breaking figures of nearly ten million visitors and more than 22 million overnight stays in 2011. On an international comparison, this means that the German capital has successfully affirmed its position as one of the top three travel destinations in Europe for city breaks and conferences. When the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport opens in early June, there will be many new flight connections to the city, making it even quicker and easier to reach, especially for international visitors.
