Pretty much everything is on offer during Berlin's Long Night of Opera and Theatre: operas, plays, concerts, singing, revues, musicals, variety, improv, cabaret, comedy, children's shows, youth theatre and puppet shows. More than 150 scenes and plays will be performed every hour between 7pm and 1am on nearly 60 stages.
Bills lasting between 20 and 30 minutes will be presented by a huge variety of venues – big and small, familiar and (as yet) unknown – across the city. Participating districts are Steglitz, Charlottenburg, Wilmersdorf, Tiergarten, Moabit, Mitte, Friedrichshain, Schöneberg, Kreuzberg, Tempelhof, Neukölln, Weissensee, Pankow, Prenzlauer Berg and Lichtenberg. The programmes will contain extracts from repertoires as well as pieces commissioned specially for the Long Night. If you think you've seen everything that the stages of Berlin have to offer or that you know all the city's theatrical venues, then you are in for a big surprise. There will be something new for everybody to discover – even hardened theatre buffs won't be disappointed. And if watching isn't enough and you fancy acting, dancing or singing along, then please be our guest. This is a night when everything is possible. One ticket grants admission to all the performances and includes the shuttle buses, which provide safe, swift transport throughout the night at 10 to 15-minute intervals. It will also get you into one of the highlights of this theatrical marathon – the closing party at the Volksbühne theatre on Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, which will kick off at midnight, capping off another great night in the city where there's always something going on.
