Back in 1877, Dr Carl von Mettenheimer, personal physician to the Duke of Mecklenburg, discovered the natural climatic benefits of what is now Graal-Müritz. This gem of a destination in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is idyllically set alongside a five-kilometre sandy beach. The traditional holiday resort's proximity to Hanseatic Rostock and the Fischland-Darss-Zingst peninsula add to its special appeal. The distinctive interplay of sea, forest and heathland creates a therapeutic bioclimate that has been proven to exert a beneficial effect on the skin, respiratory system, heart and circulation. And the Blue Flag flying proudly over the town is evidence of the high quality of its air and water.
