Magical medieval architecture

Charming half-timbered buildings give so many towns in Germany their character. Some two million timber-framed houses, often richly decorated, are still intact today. Freudenberg, idyllically situated in southern Westphalia on the House of Orange Route is famous for its medieval architecture, as is the picturesque town of Celle. The old quarter of Quedlinburg features around 1,300 half-timbered buildings spanning six centuries and is now a UNESCO World Heritage site.
