Ludwig Museum in the Deutschherrenhaus Koblenz

The Deutschherrenhaus is the living embodiment of the historical vibe of the city of Koblenz. Visitors are welcomed inside to marvel at works of art from the period between 1945 and the present day.

The Ludwig collection is spread over four floors, with a focus on artwork from post 1945 to the present day. So visitors can expect to find masterpieces of Classical Modernism here by artists including Pablo Picasso and Serge Poliakoff. Nouveaux Réalisme and Figuration Libre, a movement not dissimilar from Neo-Expressionism, are other art movements that feature heavily here. Significant individual works by Pierre Soulages, Martial Raysse, Patrick Raynaud and Daniel Buren, along with a unique Edition MAT collection, provide an insight into some fascinating artistic connections.

The Ludwig Museum's specialisation in contemporary French art distinguishes it from other museums in Germany and it is also committed to giving young artists a platform. The museum stands in a stunning location at the Deutsches Eck, or German Corner, where the Rhine and Moselle converge. There's no prettier spot in the whole city! Opening times: Tuesday to Saturday: 10.30 am–5 pm, Sunday: 11 am–6 pm
