When August Horch named his new Zwickau-based company in 1909, he translated his surname into Latin – and Audi was born.
In 1932 the Saxony car manufacturers of Horch, Audi, Wanderer and DKW joined forces as Auto Union, which had four rings as its logo. After the war the Zwickau plant produced the compact Trabant model. Today, it is the site of the August Horch Museum, which recounts the pre-war and post-war history with the aid of a great many prototypes. Visitors can also see inside August Horch's former home.
