Potsdamer Platz, which was redeveloped after German reunification, paints a compelling picture of Berlin's architectural history. In the 1920s it was a bustling transport hub and one of the busiest squares in Europe in terms of traffic.
The square was almost completely destroyed during the Second World War, and the Berlin Wall subsequently cut through the abandoned site. Once the wall fell, a new hub began to emerge with buildings designed by leading international architects. Today the all-new Potsdamer Platz buzzes with shopping arcades, cinemas, theatres and lots of restaurants.
