Pre Convention Tours 2012
Discover the destination Germany on one of the seven fascinating pre-convention tours, that present the diversity of some of the highlights Germany has to offer. Each tour is arranged around a theme and takes you to some of the most beautiful and exciting regions all over the country. Dive into the buzzing major cities such as Hamburg, Munich or Berlin or relax and enjoy the fantastic landscape from the Eifel region to the wineland Franconia. PCT 1 - Berlin: Cultural Capital and its vicinity
(only for overseas participants)
Berlin - the vibrant metropolis that reinvents itself everyday. Where formerly East met West there's nowadays room for every kind of lifestyle. On this trip you discover the diversity of Berlin's cultural offers and experience the rustic Berlin off the beaten path. In Potsdam you can visit Castle Cecilienhof, the former meeting place during the Potsdam Conference in WWII and several important locations of the Cold War era.
PCT 2 - Cultural cities and Gateway to the New World
(only for overseas participants)
This trip will show you the importance of Germany's north as a gateway to the new world. Visit the exhibition in Bremerhaven’s German Emigration Center and Discover the UNESCO World Heritage Site Bremen with its historic city center. Explore Hamburg's Warehouse District and discover the city’s most famous entertainment district St. Pauli.
PCT 3 - Music country and Luther
(only for European participants)
In 2017, Germany celebrates the anniversary of the publishment of the 95 Theses by the protestant Martin Luther. Visit some of the most important locations in the life of the reformer Martin Luther and find out where and how he lived. Germany's classical music heritage is second to none. The tour includes important locations and famous musicians associated with the music of Germany, such as Franz Liszt and Richard Wagner and the towns of Erfurt, Weimar and Dresden.
PCT 4 - Culture/ Tradition - modernity
(for participants from Europe and overseas)
This trip aims to build a bridge from the old to the new that will fascinate you. From Frankfurt, the city on the river Main with high skyscrapers, via the historic Spa town Baden-Baden to the picturesque town of Freiburg, Germany offers a wealth of culture and history.
PCT 5 - Culinary Germany
(only for journalists from Europe and overseas)
The German cuisine is as diverse as the regions in which it is made. On this trip you can discover the culinary specialities of Cologne, enjoy the excellence of Germany's best chefs in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, Wolfsburg and Osnabrück and experience the fascination of Haute Cuisine. Embark on a culinary expedition and get a taste of Germany's diversity – Guten Appetit!
PCT 6 - Wine country / nature and culture
(for participants from Europe and overseas)
A wonderful wine region that combines warm hospitality with culture and a touch of indulgence will be discovered on this trip. In Germany, numerous wine hotels, wine bistros and wine restaurants offer the chance to spend some relaxing hours enjoying German cuisine and regional specialties, while the many hike and bike paths through the picturesque vineyards lead to cultural and historical attractions and stunning scenery in the Region of Franconia and the City of Stuttgart.
PCT 7 - Barrier-free travel
(only for European participants)
Barrier-free travel means holidays where everything is accessible. That includes sightseeing, recreation and entertainment for travelers with any kind of impairment.
