Museum of Modern Art Freiburg

Masterpieces from the Classical Modernism period to the present day bear witness to the major artistic movements of the past century at the Museum of Modern Art in Freiburg.

The exhibition centres around Expressionism, New Objectivity and art from the 1930s to 1950s. Feininger, Dix, Heckel, Hofer, Macke, Scherer, Kanoldt, Dischinger and Scholz are amongst the creators of the artwork on display, which covers all kinds of aspects between Expressionism and New Objectivity. German history within the window between the 1930s and 1950s is also vividly brought to life through the means of art.

The museum on Marienstrasse is a forum for important artistic and social debate in the interests of the public and the art world. The latest trends are scrutinised and fresh perspectives offered up, with change and a dynamic approach welcomed with open arms. Issues at the heart of our modern society are reflected within temporary exhibitions and the metaphor of the perfect museum is behind the vision here. Artists known on the national and international stage have a home here! Opening times: Tuesday to Sunday: 10 am–5 pm
