The Baden Wine Route

Baden Wine Route – Pleasure route on Germany's oldest wine trail

Welcome to the Baden Wine Route. For over 60 years, this 500 km connoisseur's route has been considered Germany's longest wine route through the Baden wine-growing country, the Kaiserstuhl region, Ortenau region, Kraichgau, the Black Forest, the Oberrheintal district and the Breisgau area to the town of Weil am Rhein in the beautiful Markgräflerland.

Do you want to wander from wine cellar to wine cellar or cycle through a sea of flowers, making lots of gastronomic stops along the way? Then the Baden Wine Route is just what you have been looking for. The route runs through a welcoming, hilled landscape composed mainly of meadows, orchards and vineyards.

More discoveries to be made

Award-winning viniculture is the dominant characteristic of this region, thanks to its unrelenting sunshine. Picturesque wine villages, quaint little towns, proud castles, abbeys, a multitude of conservation areas and many cultural and natural highlights are just waiting to be discovered. This storybook landscape is not just excellent for wine. It is also exceptionally good for growing asparagus.

Gastronomic stops

The people of this land know how to eat, drink and be merry. In other words, the surrounding regions are so overflowing with temptation, gastronomes will be in no hurry to reach the end. And as this splendid region is Germany's culinary heartland, this hardly comes as a surprise: there is much temptation here, discipline will be needed in abundance. Visitors will be spoiled for choice as each location is often home to more than one inviting stop-off point: you'll find your resolve tested again and again!

Nature, exercise, beauty and fitness

Mother Nature can also be enjoyed on a walk or during a round of golf on one of the region's beautiful golf courses. Beauty and fitness fans won't miss out either: the healing properties of the area's warm springs have been recognised since the Roman times. The Baden Wine Route is a real hidden treasure and is an utterly unmissable destination at any time of year.
