The Zweitälersteig Trail (two valleys trail) wends its way through a landscape of crags, gorges and waterfalls in the Black Forest’s Elz and Simonswald valleys.
Untamed nature and stunning vistas are the defining features of this trail. A whole host of peaks and vantage points provide an everchanging selection of panoramas, including Mount Kandel, the pilgrimage chapel on Mount Hörnleberg, unspoilt Mount Rohrhardsberg and the long mountain ridge that stretches from Höhenhäuser down to Waldkirch. You will also pass natural beauty spots such as the Zweribach waterfalls, the romantic Teich gorge and the Huber rock formation. The walk explores delightful landscapes such as valley meadows crossed by streams in the upper Elz valley and the patchwork of woods and meadows covering the gently rolling hills of the western section of the trail. The ZweiTäler region is especially known for its friendly and hospitable people.
Tip: Zweribach waterfalls
A narrow rocky path leads to the Zweribach waterfalls at Simonswald-Wildgutach. Water thunders down in two stages from a height of 80 metres, plunging and gurgling over vertical walls before crashing onto boulders at the bottom. Once tamed, it flows into the Wilde Gutach mountain stream.
