Hanseatic Lübeck has been named 'City of Science' for 2012 and this is being celebrated with many events throughout the year under the banner 'Hanse meets Humboldt'. The idea is to get people in Lübeck discovering things for themselves, conducting their own research and playing an active part in science. In the old quarter, which is surrounded on all sides by water, there is a science trail with ten stations that are being opened month by month and are accompanied by a programme of activities. This means that every month brings new scientific discoveries!
