On 13 May 2012, Mother's Day is being celebrated in Germany and in a number of other western countries. It's a day for children to express their love and gratitude to their mothers by giving presents and making a special effort. Originally conceived as an occasion for sending flowers, Mother's Day has been celebrated in Germany for 90 years.
