The Karl May Festival has been a firm fixture in Germany's theatre calendar since it was first established in 1952. Every year, one adventure story by the Wild West author Karl May is brought to stage in spectacular style in Bad Segeberg near Lübeck. Until 2 September 2012, Winnetou, Old Shatterhand and a cast of other characters are whisking the whole family back to around 1870 and the American Old West.
