The Swabian Alb is renowned for its stunning scenery, but not many people realise that it also offers a fascinating insight into a time when mammoths roamed the valleys and people lived in caves.

The Alb Valleys Cycle Route passes through the most beautiful countryside settings and villages in the Swabian Alb Geopark, mainly on well-maintained tarmac cycle paths and tracks. The route is lined with the region's characteristic juniper heathland, prehistoric rock formations and mysterious caves. At Vogelherd Archaeology Park, there are plenty of incredible finds from the Stone Age waiting to be discovered, whilst incredible rock formations in Eselsburg Valley never fail to spark the imagination. The route continues though the nature reserve near Herbrechtingen and carries on to the Charlottenhöhle discovery caves in Giengen-Hürben. Hilly in places, occasional steep climbs.
