Founded in 1950, the Romantic Road has become one of the most popular scenic routes in Germany thanks to its landscape and culture. It's hardly surprising, then, that cyclists decided to check out the route for themselves.

The journey starts off in Würzburg, home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the form of its Residence and beautiful Old Town. The charming Tauber Valley is like something from a picture book with its gorgeous scenery and idyllic towns. Then it's on to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, which oozes pure Medieval charm. Between the Swabian and Franconian Alb lies the Nördlinger Ries, an impact crater caused by a meteorite around 15 million years ago. Shortly before the end of the route in Füssen, Neuschwanstein Castle stands proudly as a major highlight of this route that lives up to its name from start to finish.
