Situated in the heart of Hessen, the Lahn-Dill-Bergland Nature Park is bordered by the Lahn and Dill rivers. Twenty different walking trails make up an outstanding network of premium routes.
The dramatic cliffs will appeal to climbers, and a panoramic route takes you through the lovely highland on trails through woodland and meadows and alongside babbling brooks. The 19 accredited loop trails are best suited to a half-day or full-day trek. For longer walks, the 90km Lahn-Dill-Bergland Trail takes in many of the reserve's highlights.
Cyclists can escape the tourists and explore the first Cyclist Tour Zone (RadReiseRegion) as certified by the German Cyclists' Federation (ADFC). From rugged valley tours to demanding mountain stages, a well-maintained network of cycle paths invites you to explore medieval towns, Lake Aartalsee or the region's castles and palaces. You can even take in the nature park on horseback. Varied landscape makes the Lahn-Dill-Bergland a horserider's paradise, best explored from a dense network of routes that for the most part are suitable for trail riders.
With the services of a guide, you can take a 'living tour' of the nature park, for example through the Hauberg woods, a sustainably managed forest that is part of the park's day-to-day operations. Lake Aartalsee is a conservation area offering shelter to many endangered birds such as the lapwing, titlark and Egyptian goose, but it's also used for a wide range of water sports.
