Potsdam Film Museum

Potsdam Film Museum, Germany's oldest film museum, is located in the stables at the old city palace, which is currently being rebuilt. The collection comprises more than one million photos, technical film-making exhibits, costumes and items left in the wills of well-known stars.

Germany's oldest film museum predominantly looks back on more than 100 years of history at the largest film studios in Europe in Babelsberg. The permanent exhibition called "Dream Factory – 100 Years of Film at Babelsberg" on the history of the film studios in Babelsberg follows the process of a film being made, from the initial concept to the premiere, in an interactive way guaranteed to capture visitors' imaginations. Across seven themed rooms, visitors can get a sense of what it feels like to make a movie and even take on the role of actor, film editor or musician.

Temporary exhibitions shed light on a range of topics from the world of the media. The cinema hosts film series with international guests and silent film screenings accompanied by live music on the Welte theatre organ. The ever-expanding collections on the history of the film studios at Babelsberg are sure to impress visitors and exhibition organisers alike. Opening times: Tuesday to Sunday: 10 am–6 pm
