The Transparent Factory Dresden

The Transparent Factory represents a new era in car production. The future looks bright at this modern, transparent showcase factory made of glass, which is the birthplace of the e-Golf.

What will the cars of the future look like? What does it feel like to drive an electric car? And how long do those things take to charge anyway? Interactive exhibits and display vehicles in the electric experience area reveal the current progress in electromobility and provide insight into where mobility is heading in the future. Highlights include temporary displays of different studies and Volkswagen concept cars with alternative drive systems. And visitors can even watch a new e-Golf* being created given that the model has been produced at the Transparent Factory since April 2017.

Guided tours of the production facilities take visitors just a few metres away from the production line so that they can watch a lot of the process up close. Since 2017, the Transparent Factory has also served as an incubator for start-ups from all around the world. Newly formed companies come here to work on innovative ideas that will make driving, navigation and parking more straightforward. Opening times: Monday to Saturday: 9 am–7 pm, Sunday: 10 am–6 pm
