A number of open-air museums in Lower Saxony provide insights into how people lived and worked in centuries gone by. Cloppenburg museum village is one of the oldest attractions of its kind in Germany, and presents a great number of timber-framed houses and historical artisan workshops. These workshops, where you can watch traditional crafts being practised, are a firm favourite with visitors.
