the 2013 India Pool Sales Guide

With a 20.1% increase in visitor overnights in 2011, Germany has grown to become the leading travel destination, for the ardent Indian, travelling to Europe. The positive trend was also visible in 2012 with 584,508 overnights (+6,8% 12/11).

The Indian market, with its insatiable demand for exotic destinations, is one of the fastest growing source markets in the world for the German National Tourist Board, Frankfurt (GNTB). The German National Tourist Office, India (GNTO) founded in 2006 has worked aggressively towards creating an interest in the destination amongst the avid Indian traveller.

Set up in 2008, the Germany-India Pool is a joint marketing initiative between 17 German travel and tourism partners, aimed at creating a demand for leisure travel to Germany in India. Since its inception, the association has been able to garner increased interest in Germany as a leisure destination from both the Indian travel trade and the discerning Indian traveller. The India Pool is one of GTNO’s successful efforts to promote the destination in India.
