Neither a circus nor a variety theatre in the classic sense of the words – the Fliegende Bauten in Hamburg's hip St. Pauli district is something else altogether: unique, avant-garde, with each production offering new excitement. This is a venue which seeks to reinvent the genre every evening according to the ideas of contemporary circus – whilst offering audiences of up to 600 people a fantastic night's entertainment inside its huge, four-masted big top.
The Fliegende Bauten, a large, circus-style show tent pitched opposite the Heiligengeistfeld funfair site, has been enriching Hamburg's cultural scene for more than twelve years now. Boasting an unbeatable big top atmosphere, the venue welcomes cabaret artists, acrobats, dancers, musicians and comedians from all around the world. It has also hosted concerts by international stars such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Vaya con Dios. Excellent wining and dining turn the evening into a real treat, with audiences enjoying a range of seasonal dishes and creations that are specially tailored to the entertainment on offer. As well as a charming beer garden set in a small park, there is also a bar – the perfect place to finish a great night out with a glass or two of fizz. Facilities such as these also make the Fliegende Bauten a great location for all sorts of special events including corporate parties, anniversaries, weddings, award ceremonies, presentations or exclusive gala evenings.
