Cochem Castle

Rising majestically above Cochem is the old imperial castle with its oriels and battlements, which was built atop a mighty rock in around 1000 AD. The splendid, late-Gothic fortress with its unique layout towers over all before it in an impregnable position high above the river Moselle.

The splendid, late-Gothic fortress with its unique layout towers over all before it in an impregnable position high above the river Moselle. It is a sight to behold even from down in the valley, and the knights' hall, castle chapel, banqueting hall, hunting room and ladies' quarters are all well worth a visit. The castle affords a magnificent view of Cochem and the Moselle. Cochem Castle hosts medieval festivals and concerts, and couples can even hold their wedding here. The historical banquets that take diners back to the Middle Ages are especially popular.
