Upper Lusatia Mountain Trail – culture and countryside where Saxony borders the Czech Republic and Poland

    The Upper Lusatia Mountain Trail is a delightful combination of rock formations, quaint villages and pretty spa resorts. Local customs and crafts are evident along the trail, from Oybin across the Scharfenstein rock formation to 793m-high Mount Lausche.

    The sandstone rock formation in the middle of the Oybin valley is crowned by the ruins of a myth-enshrouded castle and abbey. Sites of interest include the historical hilltop church, Ritterschlucht gorge, the castle museum, the abbey crypts and a camera obscura.
