Company Profile

Glamorous, vibrant, never sleeping Berlin

City of unlimited possibilities
Berlin, the German capital, is a trend setter in lifestyle, music, art and fashion. Wherever you go, you can experience the pulsating life: on boulevards, in art galleries, at flea markets or in the city's 300 clubs and 7,000 bars and restaurants. Mixed up with the unique history of Berlin shaped by changes and upheavals, the city is worth to be visited.
Whether you are business traveler, a family, a couple or a single visitor even young or elderly, Berlin offers always a special highlight on any visit. The 'Brandenburg Gate', Berlin's most famous landmark, as well as the Potsdamer Platz, the showpiece of the New Berlin, are only two examples for the innumerable symbols of the city.

Whether city adventure, nightlife or the most modern hotels in Europe – Berlin visitors can explore a variety of affordable options. Because although Berlin is one of Europe's top destinations for art, fashion and events, the city offers much more for your money than other major cities like London, Paris or Rome. In short: a stay in a metropolis with world city status will not cost you the earth, but your memories of it will be priceless...

visitBerlin offers you “your Berlin”
“We know Berlin”. This is the slogan that Berlin Tourismus & Kongress GmbH, operating under the trade name visitBerlin, has been using since 1993 to globally advertise for Berlin as a travel destination. visitBerlin’s Berlin Convention Office markets the German capital as a congress metropolis.
As a tour operator, the company offers a wide range of travel packages and also issues the official tourist ticket, the Berlin WelcomeCard.
visitBerlin operates three Berlin Tourist Infos and the Berlin Service Center (Tel. 030-25 00 25), which provides information on the complete spectrum of tourist services available in Berlin.

Cultural Highlights

Berlin has many faces – as a capital in the heart of Europe with a diverse history between east and west at its centre, it has emerged as a city of fashion, art and design, showing the trends of tomorrow, and as a film capital that has attracted international stars on red carpets and on sets. Berlin pulses with its distinctive club and night life.

Culture: a high standard of entertainment
Three opera houses and eight top-class symphony orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic conducted by Sir Simon Rattle, as well as a further 150 theatres and stages guarantee good entertainment every evening. In the long line of theatre tradition, new trends are created continuously, encompassing the ancient tragedies, traditional Berlin farces or contemporary political theatre.

Art: world culture, history and contemporary
Around 180 museums, private collections, palaces and memorials record history, giving insight into various fields of knowledge and showing treasures of world culture. The Museum Island was put on the UNESCO world heritage list in 1999 as the largest museum ensemble in the world. In its five buildings there are over 6,000 years of art and cultural history on display.

Museums and memorials also look at Berlin’s history and show off fine art masterpieces as well as the work of contemporary artists. The UNESCO City of Design is a centre of creativity with around 440 galleries and private collections. It is also the site of renowned art fairs and art events such as the Gallery Weekend, the abc – art contemporary Berlin, the Berliner Liste and the Preview Berlin Art Week. .

Health, Active and Nature

Berlin’s good for you: unique health offers
He goes to have a check-up in the clinic whilst she enjoys a spa treatment in the hotel. As their grand finale to the day, they have a sight-seeing tour planned. There’s no other metropolis where visitors can so perfectly combine culture, lifestyle and health.

Berlin is the Capital of Health. Guests from around the world come for treatment in the renowned German capital. Health-conscious visitors can combine a city break with a relaxing holiday. In addition to the excellent medical quality, you can enjoy a unique range of spa and beauty treatments, all whilst soaking up the spirit of a metropolis.

Keep yourself active
Sport is important for health and your sense of wellbeing, particularly when you can do it out in nature. There is plenty of opportunity to keep active outdoors in one of Berlin’s many parks, along the banks of the Spree or canals, or in one of the many sports facilities.
Rollerblade on the spacious Tempelhof field, jog in the Tiergarten (Berlin’s largest park) or climb the 19-meter-high bunker in Friedrichshain – the choice of outdoor sports is huge. Sporty visitors to the capital can even be active on the water. People sail their motor and sail boats well into the autumn, and head for the Wannsee, Havel or Spree along with surfers and kayakers.

If you’re looking for peace and quiet in a cosmopolitan city, Berlin offers culture, nature and relaxation.

Barrier-free Travel

Accessible Berlin
Getting around Berlin is not a challenge for those who are disabled

Berlin continuously improves its accessibility for visitors and offers those with physical disabilities and those who need accessible surroundings lots of opportunities to explore the city and its attractions.

Whether you arrive by plane or train, the capital is designed to be as accessible as possible. Berlin’s “Bus & train escort service” is unique in Europe: passengers can be escorted free of charge through the city on public transport. The service is not only for those in wheelchairs, but also for those whose mobility is restricted or are visually impaired.

Berlin also has many hotels and restaurants that are designated as “disability friendly” or “wheelchair accessible”. From five star hotels to speciality hotels in the countryside, from hip designer food to hearty home-style cooking, guests will always find an offer to suit their needs.

Accessible tourist and cultural attractions
The “Berlin special guide” leads people with or without disabilities to the attractions of the city, for example from the Brandenburg Gate to the Reichstag or to Museum Island. “Experience Berlin” is an excellent audio tour guide made for blind or visually impaired visitors. It gives detailed directions to various attractions and therefore allows listeners to discover the city on their own.

Discover Berlin

Berlin visitors especially enjoy the unique casual atmosphere of the city as well as the lifestyle of its inhabitants. Nevertheless, they should not miss out on the major sights and attractions of the capital.

Top 5 of Berlin

Without a doubt, the Brandenburg Gate is Berlin's signature attraction. From here you can quickly discover the most important sights by foot. The Reichstag, for example, with its glass dome is not only the political center of Germany, but it is also a tourist magnet thanks to its magnificent view. The boulevard Unter den Linden is home to world famous buildings, such as the Humboldt University, the German Historical Museum, the German Cathedral, the State Opera and as well as the Museum Island, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Berlin Television Tower, also known as the Fernsehturm, is easily recognisable from a distance, as it stands out of the city’s skyline with a height of 368m, making it the tallest building in Berlin.

Potsdamer Platz is the main place to be for international stars and celebrities, not only during film festivals.

You’ll find not only plenty of boutiques and designer shops around the Hackescher Markt but also international fashion chain stores like American Apparell and Urban Outfitters. Those who dip in here for a bit of shopping will not be seen again so quickly.

You can discover Berlin's attractions by foot, by bike, by bus or even from the water.

Social Commitment / Green Travel

Berlin – the green metropolis
Environmental awareness shapes the lifestyle in Berlin and ensures that the residents and guests of the city feel that it is a very pleasant city to live in.

Well-maintained green spaces, urban gardens and extensive parks allow Berlin’s visitors to relax and enjoy the quiet. Visitors can walk through the spacious Tiergarten (Berlin’s largest park), marvel at the exotic flowers in Gärten der Welt (Gardens of the World) or plant some themselves in the Prinzessinnengarten (Princess Gardens).

Green on the go
Guests can have a feast without having a guilty conscience with the creative cuisine and natural ingredients on offer in both upscale restaurants as well as trendy bars in the city. The most modern hotels in Europe can be found in Berlin, so it’s no surprise that there are also lots of houses that fit in with the new trend of natural materials and sustainability.

Visitors can get around all of Berlin day or night without having to drive by using the exemplary transport system. A trip on a solar boat or canoe on the river Spree offers an entirely new view of the city. Those who are staying in the city for several days can make use of the Berlin WelcomeCard, which enables you to use public transport all around the city and also provides discounts at around 200 tourist attractions.

Berlin Green Meetings
"Berlin Green Meetings" is an online platform that supports organisers in the planning and realisation of their sustainable and green events. Organisers of meetings, incentives, conventions and events can choose a partner from the registered providers.
