Merrymaking and revelry are the order of the day as the washerwomen of Beuel celebrate carnival in Bonn on 16 February 2012. The women's carnival or weiberfastnacht is however only the start of it, for the carnival is celebrated in the city in North Rhine-Westphalia until 22 February 2012. Many carnival processions will pass through the streets, possibly accompanied by the mayor's carnival song 'SimsalaBonn', which is the motto for this year's celebrations in the city.
