Every year since 1929, the Bergstrasse Vintners' Festival – the biggest wine festival in southern Hessen – has been celebrated in Germany's smallest winegrowing region. Themed days including a day for young people, the grand vintners' parade and a host of bands and folk groups make for a packed programme that runs until 9 September 2012. As you would expect, attention focuses on the 160 or so wines from the Bergstrasse vineyards.
