Lochmühle leisure park – a place to play, have fun and run around

For over 40 years now, Lochmühle leisure park has been a popular day out in the Rhine-Main region for families with children. It is located in Wehrheim at the foot of the Taunus hills, near the spa town of Bad Homburg and Saalburg Roman fort.

Situated in the beautiful Erlenbach valley, Lochmühle is a lovingly designed and spaciously laid out leisure park with a rural charm dating from its day as a flour mill and farm. Animals and nature are among the main attractions here as you'll see at the miniature farm and the petting zoo. Stroking sheep, riding ponies, whizzing along on a rollercoaster or water bobsleigh, playing a round of mini golf – Lochmühle is one big adventure playground with so much to see and do! The park offers fun and variety from spring to autumn, with over 100 attractions and activities including bumper cars, a giant slide, a merry-go-round for the little ones, a duck carousel, giant bouncy cushions, fun bikes, pedal cars, an all-weather play hall, trampolines, barbecue areas and a field for ball games. Kids will also find it interesting and exciting to search for frogs in the shallow stream, ride the tractor train through the vegetable garden and visit the wheat and potato fields where the ingredients for our bread and chips are grown.

The many attractions at the 16-hectare park include an agricultural discovery trail, an agricultural museum and a Roman-themed loop trail, which passes a Roman fort on the UNESCO World Heritage Limes Route. Here visitors of all ages can learn about this ancient frontier of the Roman Empire, the fort itself and life in Roman times. The six waypoints on the discovery trail are both entertaining and educational, and make this the first – and currently only – attraction along the Roman Limes that gets information across in a fun way by using a themed trail. The day-to-day running of a farm is also exciting, particularly for children who live in the city. Come along and see what is going on inside the baby animal pen! There are also lots of domestic animals such as cows, pigs, goats and sheep that just love being stroked and fed by visitors, and more than ten adorable ponies that are waiting impatiently to show the younger ones the park and their stables!
