German Beer Purity Law
Germany is world famous for its beer! But most people don’t know that there is a law that determines what ingredients are allowed into German beer: malt, yeast and water. Some Thuringian breweries claim the law dates back to 1434, while their Bavarian colleagues say it was first introduced in 1516. Either way, it’s the oldest food regulation in the world that is still in force today.
