Fans of water sports, hiking and cycling are sure to have plenty of fun on, in and beside the River Lahn. The Lahn Cycle Route runs right alongside it from its source in the Rothaar Mountains all the way to its estuary in Lahnstein.

Across this entire stretch, the Lahn Cycle Route promises a fun and relaxing cycling adventure with barely a car in sight. Cyclists will follow close by the river for most of the route, taking in forests, meadows, wetlands, steep slopes and cliffs, without having to worry about traffic and the busy stresses of everyday life. The route starts off in the Rothaar Mountains, before heading through Bad Laasphe, Biedenkopf, Marburg, Giessen and Wetzlar, a town associated with Goethe. In Weilburg, canoes pass through Germany's only ship tunnel. And the Old Town of Limburg oozes fairytale charm. Further places of interest along the way include the Baroque Oranienstein Palace in Diez, Nassau, Bad Ems and Lahnstein, where the River Lahn joins the Rhine.
