Aspirin, undoubtedly one of the most famous medicines in the world, originated in Germany before becoming widely used around the world. Bayer AG registered the aspirin trademark back in 1899. The company with headquarters in Leverkusen still produces aspirin today. Aspirin was even taken on the first moon landing in 1969: there was a box of the effective pain-killer on board when Neil Armstrong flew in the Apollo 11.
