Itinerary: Sailing To The New World
Follow the route along the coast where the journey to America for millions of Germans started. See historical sites and memorials along the way.
- Day 1, Münster:
Fly into the Düsseldorf Airport and make your way to Münster. Take a guided tour of the city before you depart for Bremerhaven. - Day 2, Bremerhaven:
Learn about Germany’s emigration history at the German Emigration Center museum, the Emigrant Memorial on the Willy-Brandt-Platz and “The Last Step” near the university. Wander by the water to see the Memorial Plaque Baltimore Pier and the Chain Memorial on the lock to the New Harbor before staying the night. - Day 3, Bremerhaven:
Hop on a bus to the historical Fishery Harbor and tour the Overseas Harbor on a HarborBus. Head to Cologne and spend the night. - Day 3, Cologne:
Take a guided tour of the city to see the picturesque Old Town, learn about the cathedral and visit the Farina Museum. Walk along the Rhine and visit Flora, a historic building in the heart of the Botanical Garden.
